Valient Thorr

Valient Thorr is a band whose Venusian spacecraft landed in Greenville, North Carolina, USA, forming in 2001. Soon after they relocated to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA so they could fix their spaceship quicker.

On July 1, 2003 Valient Thorr self-released their first album (only pressing 1000 copies which were sold at shows), Stranded on Earth, which had the same musical setup as present, but one of their guitarists (Djinn Thorr) used a keyboard, which helped to bring dance elements into their music. This aspect of their music not only further influenced their legendary live shows, but helped to cement their local status as the ultimate live band, with packed hometown shows at local favorite venue Kings Barcade (located in downtown Raleigh, NC). They toured the United States and Canada shortly afterward, doing 47 shows in 52 days.

After replacing original drummer (Donn Thorr) with current drummer Lucian Thorr and ditching the keyboard entirely live and on release, they were soon signed to Volcom Entertainment, where their full-length album Total Universe Man was released on June 7, 2005. At that point, the group members gave up their regular jobs, which ranged from 6th grade teachers to pornshop workers, and set out on the road. They performed on the Volcom stage on the Warped Tour 2005, for the entire tour, except for a few shows where they played the main stage. They continued touring, taking six days off for Thanksgiving and ten for Christmas. Along the way, they lost their original rhythm guitarist (Djinn Thorr) and replaced him with Bjorn Thorr before going on tour with Hot Rod Circuit and Piebald. In honor of his departure, Eiden Thorr took Djinn's old position at shows, moving from Stage Right (the position he held since the band's inception) to Stage Left.

In February 2006, they stopped briefly in Costa Mesa, California to write the follow-up to Total Universe Man.

After Bjorn Thorr left the band, he was replaced by current guitarist Odinn Thorr. On July 11, 2006 they released their follow up album, Legend Of The World. They toured the entire Warped Tour again for the summer of 2006 playing the Volcom Stage, with the exception of the hometown stop in Raleigh, NC, where they closed out the night after NOFX and AFI on one of the two mainstages to a packed crowd. At the moment they are doing a short headlining east coast tour, up and down for a month or so, then in mid-October 2006, a tour with Joan Jett and The Black Hearts, Eagles of Death Metal and others follow.

The song Fall Of Pangea is an unlockable song in the game Guitar Hero II.

In 2008 they released their forth album Immortalizer.

Formed in 2005, Red Fang from Portland, OR is the latest effort from long time bros and collaborators Bryan Giles (Last of the Juanitas, Party Time), Aaron Beam (Dark Forces, Lachrymator), David Sullivan (Party Time, Face Down In Shit, Shiny Beast) and John Sherman (Party Time, Bad Wizard, Trumans Water, All Night). The four have boiled down their disparate sounds to create the ONLY sound: RED FANG. Tour to Live.
The band runs on beer.

There are multiple artists by this name.

One of them is an a cappella group at Penn State University, a second is a novelty rock group, and a third is an '80s hardcore punk band.

NOTA of Penn State University is Penn State's oldest coed a cappella group.

The novelty rock group, consisting of Tony Mason, recorded various humor tracks, probably the best known being Barney's On Fire, which is often mistakenly labeled a Weird Al track. (Before becoming a solo project, None Of The Above was a band with other members, but they only released a handful of songs.) This None Of The Above culminated in the 1996 greatest hits album HUH?, which was freely downloadable from the web for many years. Tony Mason went on to form the short-lived hard rock novelty band Catthedd with a friend.

The Atom Age

The 20th Century is over. Man has walked on the moon, split the atom, taken down the USSR, and created Rock ‘N ‘ Roll. The 21st Century looked bright to us. Endless possibilities filled our imaginations, until it all changed. The first decade of this new era brought computer perfected bands, coupled with trends that came and went faster then social networking sites. The “kids” are not foaming at the mouth for something more vital, intense, or real anymore. Who can blame them? Most are not even aware things like that even exist. Does it really have to be this way? The Atom Age from Berkeley, CA sure don’t think so.

In 2008 Ryan Perras (drummer for The Queers 2006 – Present) along with four other East Bay Rock ‘N’ Rollers formed The Atom Age. The band plays a refreshing brand of big sounding, horn tinged, Punk Rock 'N' Roll with plenty of influences from decades past. These five young guys are true believers in the spirit of the genre and are doing all they can to revive it. By combining catchy melodies, demanding riffs, and hectic sax lines, The Atom Age has created a truly unique high energy sound that pays a resounding salute to the music of decades past.

The Atom Age’s debut album “Kill Surf City” (released March 2010 on Solidarity Recordings) clearly displays the band’s ambitious sound and burgeoning potential.The band produced and recorded the album themselves, bypassing the usual and often all too common trappings of over editing and autotune. The 14 solid tracks are an energetic reminder of what the Rock ‘N’ Roll genre once was and what it still can be. “Kill Surf City” is a record that has a good shot at perking up the ringing ears of more than just a few of the jaded listeners out there.

Touring has always been a top priority for The Atom Age. The band has done two national tours (one of which was supporting THE QUEERS) as well as multiple regional and west coast runs. Before heading out with The Queers, the bands teamed up to release a split 7 inch on Asian Man Records in 2009. The Atom Age’s touring experience is already significant and the band is on their way to becoming a serious touring machine.

It’s finally time to face the fact that it’s the 21st Century and visions of the future circa 1950 didn’t quite pan out. Cars don’t fly, robots don’t clean up after us, and Rock ‘N’ Roll sure doesn’t kick like it used to. There are still plenty of us looking for something new and a band like The Atom Age can give us a little reminder of times of hopeful excitement and a new promising energy, with their brand of 21st Century Rock ‘N’ Roll.
