Jason began honing his performing talents in front of his classmates at an early age while growing up in Park City, Utah. His vocal training came under the direction and encouragement of Rosalind Hall at The Waterford School in Sandy, UT. Former BYU Basketball Coach Tony Ingle recognized Jason's talents as an entertainer and suggested Jason focus his efforts on being a performer as opposed to his dream of playing in the NBA. In 2000 Ingle introduced Hewlett to D. Chris Poulos, former manager of folk singing group, The 3 D's, and Poulos helped Jason secure his first paid performances at Johnny B's Comedy Club and Scera Theater in Orem and Provo, UT, respectively. In August 2000 Hewlett saw Danny Gans perform and has patterned his career after the great-late Las Vegas Impressionist.
